Lorain County Printing and Publishing Company is looking for a Part Time Customer Service Representative.

Ideal candidates would possess a customer service background (preferably 3 – 4 years’ experience) within a Customer Service Department or Call Center and some Sales experience.

Candidates must exhibit solid communication skills, accurate data entry, must be able to learn other industry specific computer programs and handle multiple phone lines. Additionally, candidates must have a strong work ethic, excellent attendance, be able to problem solve and must work rotating weekend and holidays.

 Potential candidates must be able to pass drug screen and background check.

REPORTS TO : Customer Service Manager

Position Summary

This position provides exceptional customer service for all Chronicle Telegram and Medina Gazette customers by utilizing excellent, in-depth knowledge of company products and services.

 

Essential Functions

  • Provide customer service over the phone, via email, or in person as applicable regarding the company products
  • Provide timely and accurate information to customers and management
  • Provide timely feedback to manager regarding service issues or customer concerns
  • Meet and exceed customer expectations
  • Enter customer starts/stops/complaints/orders/changes into the computer system
  • Process customer payments/credits
  • Assist in writing ads for both the Chronicle Telegram and Medina Gazette: type, create and up-sell
  • Process sales orders and maintain current customer data
  • Participate in special customer programs by communicating and explaining specials to applicable customers, tracking the specials, etc.
  • Process legals: scan and send to proper employee and post payment
  • Obits
  • Balance drawer
  • Facilitate counter sales of company products
  • Greet and direct visitors, clients, customers, and vendors
  • Assemble vacation packs and distribute to the Circulation Department.

Other Job Duties and Responsibilities

  • Open and close the office daily
  • Take and relay messages, if needed
  • Tidy, maintain and organize the reception area
  • Receive and sort mail and deliveries
  • Greet and direct visitors, clients, customers, and vendors
  • Perform other related duties as assigned

Working Conditions and Physical Demands

Employee will work inside in an office setting at a desk and utilize a computer, telephone, copy machine, and other typical office machines and tools.

 

Employee is seated for the majority of the day, but some tasks will require standing, walking, and carrying.

 

Employee may have to lift up to 20 pounds, but usually not more than 5-10 pounds to retrieve tubes and posts and end rolls for customers and assemble and deliver vacation packs. Retrieving these items may require bending at the waist, lifting and carrying.

Education, Training, and Experience

  • High school diploma/GED
  • Knowledge of administrative and clerical procedures
  • Knowledge of computers and relevant software applications such as Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Knowledge of customer service principles and practices
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in a customer service role
  • Time Management: the ability to organize and manage multiple priorities
  • Able to work with a wide variety of people in a positive and productive manner
  • Strong customer orientation. Must possess the ability to handle difficult or irate customers
  • Must possess strong written and verbal communication skills

Working Hours

Monday-Friday working hours are from, (select one) 6am-3pm, 7:30am-4:30pm, 8am-5pm, 8:15am-5:15pm. Rotating weekend working hours are either 8am-Noon, or 1pm-5pm (as scheduled).

 

Travel

Employee will travel to the Medina Gazette in Medina on an as needed basis.
